I was recently turned on to the Maldives from a buddy of mine at work. This nine piece band out of Seattle really are a “country” band, but labeling any band a country band really puts them in a genre with a whole bunch of no talent ass ponies. I’d really say that they fall more into the “alt country” category, even though that title seems to be placed on any country band that has more than three tattoos. Any how, I am not a music critic, just know good music when I hear it- so, I’ll let you be the judge. Here is a little sample of there music and a little video clip of them on the road. A memorial service was held at Bridges Funeral Home, 3035 Atlanta Hwy, Athens, GA, 30606 on Sunday, December 27, 2009, from 3:00-6:00 pm. Following the memorial service, family and friends gathered at Cine, 234 West Hancock Ave., Athens, GA. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to Shepherd Center, 2020 Peachtree Road NW, Atlanta, GA, 30309 or Nuci’s Space, 396 Oconee Street, Athens, GA 30601. A tribute at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, Georgia, will be held some time in the near future. A private interment ceremony will be held later in Pike County, Zebulon, GA.
